Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz fresh shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
  • 6 slices white bread or baguette, cut into triangles or rectangles
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Optional Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs (optional, for extra crunch)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for topping
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional, for drizzling)
  • Chili flakes or Sriracha, to taste (for spicy variation)
  • Fresh herbs like cilantro, parsley, or basil, chopped (for herb infusion)
  • Grated Parmesan or mozzarella (for cheesy twist)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp Mixture: Finely chop the fresh shrimp into small pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp with minced garlic, chopped green onions, soy sauce, and the beaten egg. Mix thoroughly until you get a sticky, well-incorporated paste.
  2. Assemble the Toasts: Cut the bread slices into your preferred shapes such as triangles or rectangles. Spread a generous layer of the shrimp mixture evenly over one side of each bread piece. If desired, sprinkle a light coating of breadcrumbs on top for added crunch.
  3. Add Finishing Touches: Lightly sprinkle sesame seeds over each piece for flavor and texture. Optionally, drizzle a small amount of sesame oil to introduce a nutty aroma.
  4. Bake Until Golden: Arrange the shrimp-topped bread pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them for even baking. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until the shrimp topping is cooked through and the bread is crispy and golden brown.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the Baked Shrimp Toast to cool for a couple of minutes so the topping sets properly. Serve warm to enjoy the best texture and flavor experience.

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for best taste and texture.
  • Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure even crispiness.
  • Finely chop shrimp for better binding and spreadability.
  • Slightly stale bread works well as it holds up better when baking.
  • Keep an eye on baking time to avoid burning or undercooking.
