Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean but moist ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
  • 4 burger buns, soft and slightly toasted

Fresh Toppings

  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Cheese slices (optional)

Optional Variations

  • Chili flakes or hot sauce for a spicy twist
  • Basil, thyme, or rosemary as herb alternatives
  • Barbecue sauce for brushing patties while grilling
  • Mozzarella cubes for cheese-stuffed patties

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs (or almond flour), egg, minced garlic, finely chopped onion, chopped herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix gently just until combined to avoid dense burgers.
  2. Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into even portions and form each into a round patty about 1/2-inch thick. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to keep them flat while cooking.
  3. Heat the Pan or Grill: Preheat a skillet or grill to medium heat. Brush with olive oil to prevent sticking and to promote a golden crust on the patties.
  4. Cook the Patties: Place the patties on the pan or grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side. Flip only once to ensure even cooking and a good sear. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) for safety.
  5. Toast the Buns and Add Toppings: While the patties cook, lightly toast the burger buns in the oven or on the grill. Layer the bottom bun with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and your choice of cheese or sauce.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Place the cooked chicken patty on the prepared bottom bun, add garnishes of your choice, then cover with the top bun. Serve hot immediately for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the meat to keep the burgers moist and tender.
  • Press a dimple in the center of patties to help them cook evenly and stay flat.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness without drying out the chicken.
  • Let cooked patties rest for a few minutes to redistribute the juices.
  • Toast the buns well to add crunch and prevent sogginess from sauces and juices.
