Ingredients

Scale

Pork Chops and Coating

  • 4 pork chops (bone-in or boneless, about 1-inch thick)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for gluten-free option)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs (use gluten-free if needed)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter (or dairy-free alternative like coconut oil or olive oil)
  • 3 cloves garlic, freshly minced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (use tamari or gluten-free alternative if needed)

Optional Variations

  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (for a spicy kick)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for sesame crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary (for herby twist)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon or orange juice (for sticky citrus zing)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Pork Chops: Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels to ensure the coating sticks well and crisps up during cooking.
  2. Create the Coating Stations: Set up three shallow bowls: one with seasoned flour (flour, salt, and pepper), one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs (optionally mixed with herbs or sesame seeds).
  3. Coat the Pork Chops: Dredge each pork chop in the flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then firmly press into the panko breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  4. Cook the Pork Chops: Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the pork chops and cook 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from pan and keep warm.
  5. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: Using the same pan, add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in honey and soy sauce and let it simmer gently until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  6. Glaze and Serve: Return the pork chops to the pan and turn them to coat evenly with the honey garlic sauce. Once glazed and sticky, plate the chops. Garnish as desired and serve.

Notes

  • Dry the meat well to help coating stick and crisp properly.
  • Do not crowd the pan; cook pork chops in batches if needed to maintain heat and even browning.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for maximum crunch; regular breadcrumbs won’t give the same texture.
  • Simmer the honey garlic sauce gently to avoid burning the honey which causes bitterness.
  • Let the pork chops rest briefly after cooking to redistribute juices.
