Ingredients

Scale

Steak

  • 1 lb ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 12 tbsp cooking oil (for searing)

Garlic Butter

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or thyme/rosemary as alternative)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: pinch of chili flakes or crushed red pepper (for spicy variation)

Bread

  • 1 French bread baguette or crusty bread, sliced into bite-sized pieces

Optional Toppings and Variations

  • Shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese (for cheesy upgrade)
  • Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Steak: Cut your chosen steak into bite-sized cubes, about 1 inch each. Season generously with salt and black pepper. Let the steak rest at room temperature for 10 minutes to promote even cooking.
  2. Sear the Steak Bites: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of cooking oil. Once hot, add the steak pieces in a single layer without overcrowding the pan. Sear each side for 2-3 minutes until a golden brown crust forms. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced fresh garlic, chopped parsley, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly until smooth and aromatic. Add chili flakes or cayenne for a spicy kick if desired.
  4. Prepare the Bread: Slice crusty French bread into bite-sized pieces or small rounds. Spread a generous layer of the garlic butter mixture over each slice to infuse rich flavor.
  5. Assemble and Broil: Place one seared steak bite on top of each garlic butter-coated bread slice. Arrange the pieces on a baking sheet in a single layer. Broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes, until the edges of the bread turn golden and the steak is warmed through. Optionally, sprinkle shredded cheese on top before broiling for a cheesy upgrade.

Notes

  • Use room temperature steak to ensure even cooking and juiciness.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet when searing; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Fresh minced garlic in the butter provides the best flavor compared to powder.
  • Choose bread with a sturdy crust to prevent sogginess under the steak and butter.
  • Keep a close watch while broiling to avoid burning the bread or steak.
