Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Homemade Peach Ice Cream

This Homemade Peach Ice Cream recipe offers a creamy, velvety treat bursting with the natural sweetness and delicate aroma of ripe peaches. Made with simple, fresh ingredients and a perfect balance of creaminess and fruit flavor, it’s an easy-to-make summer dessert that outshines store-bought ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

Fresh Peaches

  • 45 ripe, juicy peaches (about 2 pounds)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for macerating peaches)

Ice Cream Base

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peaches: Wash, peel, and slice the ripe peaches. Toss them with lemon juice and 2 tablespoons sugar, then let them macerate for 15-20 minutes to bring out natural juices and intensify flavor.
  2. Make the Peach Puree: Blend half of the macerated peaches until smooth, leaving the other half in chunks to add texture to the ice cream.
  3. Mix the Ice Cream Base: In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and peach puree until fully combined and the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Chill the Mixture: Cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2-3 hours or overnight to meld flavors and ensure a smooth texture.
  5. Churn the Ice Cream: Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn for 20-30 minutes as per manufacturer’s instructions. Add the remaining peach chunks during the last 5 minutes of churning to distribute them evenly.
  6. Freeze Until Firm: Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Choose ripe, juicy peaches for the best flavor.
  • Peel peaches to avoid grainy texture and improve creaminess.
  • Use cold ingredients to speed up freezing and improve texture.
  • An ice cream maker ensures the creamiest results, but it’s optional.
  • Avoid over-sweetening to highlight natural peach flavor.
  • Freeze overnight for firmer consistency if desired.
  • Leftovers should be stored airtight in the coldest part of the freezer to prevent ice crystals.
  • If frozen peaches are used, thaw and drain excess liquid before using.
  • This recipe can be made dairy-free by substituting coconut cream and almond milk.
  • To reduce sugar, natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup can be used, keeping in mind texture changes may occur.
