Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 batch fresh or store-bought pizza dough (enough to roll out a 12x15 inch rectangle)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce (marinara or pizza sauce)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2025 pepperoni slices (or preferred toppings)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (or garlic powder as alternative)

Optional Extras

  • Bell peppers, sliced
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Olives, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle approximately 12×15 inches, ensuring the thickness is even for consistent baking results.
  2. Add the Sauce: Spread a thin and even layer of tomato sauce over the dough, leaving about a one-inch border on all sides to prevent sauce from leaking when rolled.
  3. Layer the Cheese and Toppings: Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then evenly add pepperoni slices or your chosen toppings to build flavor.
  4. Roll and Seal: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seam and ends firmly to seal the fillings inside and avoid spills during baking.
  5. Slice and Arrange: Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled log into slices about 1 to 1.5 inches thick. Place the slices cut-side up on a greased baking sheet spaced slightly apart.
  6. Brush and Season: Brush olive oil over the tops of the rolls and sprinkle with Italian seasoning or garlic powder for added flavor and a golden crust.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until the rolls are puffed, golden, and the cheese inside is bubbly.

Notes

  • Use cold dough for easier rolling and cleaner slices.
  • Don’t overfill with sauce or toppings to prevent sogginess and leakage.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice rolls for neat edges.
  • Serve with dipping sauces like ranch, garlic butter, or marinara for extra flavor.
  • Watch baking time carefully to avoid over-browning, but ensure cheese is melted thoroughly.
