Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 lb large shrimp, fresh or thawed, peeled and deveined

Spiced Butter Sauce

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed or minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 12 teaspoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Garnish and Serving

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • French bread or crusty rolls, for serving (or gluten-free bread/rice for gluten-free option)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water, then peel and devein if not already done. Pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels to ensure even cooking and that the sauce clings perfectly.
  2. Make the Spiced Butter Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Stir in paprika, cayenne pepper, Creole seasoning, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and lemon juice. Allow the sauce to simmer gently so the flavors meld together.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the sauce and toss immediately to coat. Cook the shrimp for about 3 to 4 minutes, flipping occasionally, until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook to maintain tenderness and juiciness.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the shrimp. Serve the Louisiana BBQ Shrimp directly from the skillet with warm crusty French bread or chosen side to soak up the luscious sauce.

Notes

  • Use the freshest shrimp available for the best texture and flavor.
  • Avoid overcooking shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Use high-quality unsalted butter and balance richness with fresh lemon juice.
  • Adjust cayenne and hot sauce incrementally to achieve your preferred heat level.
  • Preferably cook in a heavy skillet like cast iron or stainless steel for even heat.
