Ingredients

Scale

Meatball Ingredients

  • Mini meatballs (homemade or pre-made, about 1 inch each)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Puff Pastry and Assembly

  • 1 package puff pastry sheets (thawed and rolled out)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Marinara sauce (for serving or optional filling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your meatballs: If using pre-made mini meatballs, thaw them completely. For homemade, combine ground meat with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and grated Parmesan cheese, then form into mini-sized balls for even baking.
  2. Preheat oven and prep puff pastry: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out puff pastry sheets on a floured surface and cut into squares large enough to comfortably wrap each mini meatball.
  3. Assemble the pastries: Place one meatball in the center of each puff pastry square. Optionally add a spoonful of marinara sauce or extra cheese. Fold the pastry over the meatball and seal the edges tightly by pinching or pressing with a fork to create neat parcels.
  4. Brush with egg wash: Lightly beat an egg and brush the surface of each pastry to achieve a golden, glossy finish after baking.
  5. Bake until golden brown: Place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use cold puff pastry dough to ensure maximum flakiness and rise.
  • Do not overfill the pastries to avoid sogginess and difficulty sealing.
  • Press the edges firmly to prevent opening during baking.
  • Make meatballs uniform in size for even cooking.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
