Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling

  • Nutella, moderate spoonfuls per waffle (about 1-2 tablespoons each)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and sugar until combined. In a separate bowl, beat together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. It is okay if the batter has a few lumps.
  2. Preheat Your Waffle Iron: Heat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Lightly grease the plates with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Add Batter and Nutella: Pour a scoop of batter onto the center of the waffle iron, enough to cover the base evenly. Add a spoonful of Nutella in the center of the batter, then carefully top with more batter to fully enclose the Nutella.
  4. Cook Until Golden and Crisp: Close the waffle iron and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown and cooked through, with the Nutella inside melted and gooey.
  5. Serve Warm: Use a spatula to gently remove the waffles from the iron. Serve immediately to enjoy the warm, molten Nutella inside at its best.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for smoother batter and fluffier waffles.
  • Don’t overfill with Nutella to prevent leakage during cooking.
  • Keep cooked waffles warm in a low oven while preparing the rest.
  • Ensure your waffle iron is properly preheated for crispy edges and even cooking.
  • Try toppings like powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, or chopped nuts for extra flavor and texture.
